The Mosque Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs held a prize presentation ceremony for Al-Qur'an Reading Musabaqah for Mosques, Suraus and Religious Halls Nationwide. The competition is divided into two categories, namely Category A for participants aged 40 to 54 and Category B for participants aged 55 and above. Held in conjunction with the Hijrah New Year Celebration, the ceremony took place at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait, 25th June morning.
The prize presentation was officiated by Yang Berhormat Awang Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, Member of the Legislative Council. Male and Female champions for Category A went to Awang Haji Mohamad Aslenan bin Haji Metusin and Dayang Hajah Norlaila binti Haji Metusin, from Kampung Kupang Mosque. While Male Category B was won by Awang Haji Zaman bin Haji Timbang from Masjid Universiti, Universiti Brunei Darussalam; and the female champion for the same category was won by Dayang Hajah Amidah binti Ghafar from the Kampung Sinaut Mosque.
