It is difficult for a person to love someone whom they do not know, as reflected in the saying ‘tak kenal maka tak cinta’. One of the ways to know Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is through studying his Sirah as recorded in the narrations of Hadith, said Religious Development Assistant Officer at the Tutong District Dakwah Branch Muhammad Salihan bin Haji Samra.
He said this in a religious talk on ‘Tak Kenal Maka Tak Cinta’ as part of the ‘Malam Mencintai Rasul’ gathering at the Tutong District Officer’s Official Residence, adding that the more people learn about the Prophet (pbuh) through his Sirah and Hadith, he said, the deeper their love for him would become. Muslims were therefore encouraged to spend time reading or listening to accounts of the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Organised by the Islamic Da’wah Centre’s (PDI) Tutong District Dakwah Branch in conjunction with the Maulidur Rasul celebration, the gathering brought together converts and members of the non-Muslim community to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), while promoting greater awareness of the importance of expressing love, appreciation and gratitude for his struggles and teachings.
The gathering began with a mass Maghrib prayer, followed by the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah led by Acting Tutong District Officer Haji Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, the guest of honour. It was enlivened by a Maulid Dhiyaul Lami’ performance and continued with the recitation of Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam before concluding with a mass Isyak prayer and a group photo.
The gathering aimed to introduce the teachings of Islam to converts and members of the non-Muslim community, while strengthening harmonious relations between Muslims and non-Muslims. It also sought to nurture love for Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) among converts, encouraging them to understand and practise the Sunnah of the Prophet (pbuh) in their daily lives.
Acting Assistant Director of the PDI Isham bin Ismail and Head of the Tutong District Dakwah Branch Zikrinaidah binti Haji Mat Dikir were also present.
