Religious schools mark students’ Al-Quran milestone

Thirty-eight Year 6 pupils from Pengiran Anak Puteri Masna Religious School were honoured during a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at the school’s surau along Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha.

Senior Administrative Officer of the Strategic Management and Capability Development Division at the Ministry of Home Affairs Hajah Norarni binti Haji Rosli, the guest of honour, led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah. The ceremony featured recitation of selected Al-Quran verses by the participants, followed by the Takhtim, Khatam prayer, a Dikir performance, and the presentation of Khatam certificates to the participants. The ceremony concluded with a Doa Selamat.

Meanwhile, Kampong Mata-Mata Gadong Religious School held a similar ceremony at Al-Barakah Hall, Kampong Mata-Mata Gadong Primary School, where 17 Year 6 students were recognised for completing their Al-Quran recitation.

Education Officer at the Educator Management Unit, Ministry of Education Mohammad Syafiq bin Haji Abu Bakar, the guest of honour, led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah.

The ceremony saw Al-Quran recitations by the participants, followed by the Takhtim, Khatam prayer, a Dikir performance and the presentation of Khatam certificates before concluding with a Doa Selamat.

Pulaie Religious School celebrated the achievement of 23 Year 6 pupils during its Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at Pulaie Primary School’s hall.

Village Head of Kampong Anggerek Desa and Pulaie Muhammad Zariful Hanafi bin Haji Abdull Rahim, the guest of honour, led the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and presented Khatam certificates.

The Khatam Al-Quran ceremonies form part of the efforts by the Islamic Studies Department to strengthen religious appreciation among pupils and support the government’s aspiration of producing Al-Quran-literate generation that is faithful, righteous and guided by Islamic values, while continuing to uphold and promote Islamic traditions in Brunei Darussalam. – Lyna Mohamad
