The vibrant culture and close-knit communities of Temburong District took centre stage during the Get-Together Ceremony with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, held on Tuesday in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th birthday celebration.
The event marked the final district-level get-together ceremony of this year’s nationwide celebrations, following similar events in Tutong, Brunei-Muara and Belait districts.
Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival at the Pekan Bangar Civic Centre Complex field, His Majesty and members of the Royal Family were welcomed by Coordinating Minister for Social and Manpower Policies and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, co-chairman of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration.
The 20-minute cultural performance, themed Raja Berwawasan Inspirasi Kesejahteraan dan Kemakmuran Negara, carried the concept Raja dan Rakyat Sejiwa, Negara Sejahtera, highlighting the enduring bond between the Monarch and the people as well as the nation’s harmony and prosperity.
More than 400 participants, comprising students, youths and residents from across Temburong District, took part in the colourful showcase.
Following the performance, His Majesty and members of the Royal Family greeted the performers before touring exhibition booths and interacting with members of the public, reflecting the warm and close relationship between the Monarch and the people.
