Spotlight falls on future of AI, investing

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape industries and capture investor attention worldwide, Baiduri Capital will host ‘Beyond the Hype: What Comes Next for AI?’, a seminar designed to help investors better understand the opportunities emerging across the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

Taking place on September 24, 2026 at the Lecture Hall, Design & Technology Building, Anggerek Desa Technology Park Phase 3, the event will bring together investment professionals, technology experts, and ecosystem builders for a discussion that examines AI from both an innovation and investment perspective.

The event builds on a series of investor education sessions hosted by Baiduri Capital since 2025. Earlier discussions featured founder of Dividend Titan Willie Keng, CFA, on income generation strategies; founder and Chief Executive Officer of Beansprout Gerald Wong, CFA, on market outlooks and long-term wealth building; and co-founder of The Joyful Investors Hazelle Soon, on navigating market movements through a more structured investment approach. The latest session extends that journey by exploring AI, one of the most talked-about themes in global technology and investment markets today.

While much of the recent attention has focused on a handful of large technology companies, the event aims to explore the broader ecosystem that supports AI development and adoption. From semiconductor manufacturers and cloud infrastructure providers to software developers and emerging AI innovators, participants will gain insights into the many layers of the AI value chain and the potential opportunities they present for investors.

The discussion will feature a distinguished panel of speakers, including Senior Assistant Professor at Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr Daphne Teck Ching Lai; Senior Client Portfolio Manager at Franklin Templeton William Chang; and Managing Partner of Premia Partners Rebecca Chua.

The session will be moderated by Secretary-General and Vice President for Industry Relations of Brunei4AI Aaron Ong.

Drawing on her expertise in AI and data science, Dr Daphne Teck Ching Lai will provide an overview of the AI ecosystem and examine how AI adoption is creating opportunities across a range of industries.

William Chang will explore investment opportunities along the AI value chain and discuss how diversified investment approaches can help investors participate in long-term AI-driven growth.

Rebecca Chua will offer insights into the emergence of China’s AI, robotics, and hard-tech sectors, highlighting the trends and developments shaping future opportunities across the region.

General Manager of Baiduri Capital Brian Wong said, “When people talk about AI, the conversation often centres on a handful of well-known technology companies. But there’s a much bigger story behind the scenes. Every AI application relies on an ecosystem of businesses, from chipmakers and data centres to cloud providers and software companies, all helping to power that growth.

The purpose of this seminar is to help investors look beyond the headlines and gain a clearer understanding of where opportunities may exist. By bringing together perspectives from both the technology and investment worlds, we hope participants will leave with a more balanced view of how AI is shaping the future and what that could mean for investors.”

The event forms part of Baiduri Capital’s broader efforts to help investors better understand the forces shaping markets and the opportunities emerging from them. By bringing together industry practitioners, researchers, and market specialists, the session aims to provide participants with practical perspectives on one of today’s most closely watched investment themes.
