Prospective pilgrims begin basic haj, umrah course

Prospective haj and umrah pilgrims are being equipped with essential knowledge and guidance through the Basic Haj and Umrah Course 1448H/2026M, which began at selected mosques nationwide yesterday.

Organised by the Haj Affairs Department, Ministry of Religious Affairs, the course aims to disseminate knowledge on the rites of haj and umrah while preparing prospective pilgrims physically, spiritually and mentally.

The course comprises six sessions held every Sunday, with each session running from 8am to 10am with the first session beginning yesterday, and will conclude on October 18.

The course is being conducted simultaneously at seven selected mosques across the four districts.

In Brunei-Muara District, sessions are held at Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Serusop; Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Kampong Sengkurong; Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Jalan ‘B’, Kampong Mentiri; and Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Mosque, Kampong Rimba. In Belait District, the course is held at Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait; in Tutong District at Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Pekan Tutong; and in Temburong District at Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque, Pekan Bangar.

Members of the public interested in gaining a better understanding of the basic rites of haj and umrah, those intending to perform umrah, selected prospective pilgrims for the 1448H/2027M haj season, as well as those on the haj waiting list are encouraged to attend the course.

The initiative forms part of efforts to ensure prospective pilgrims are better prepared and equipped with the knowledge required to perform the haj and umrah rites correctly.
