Sixty female athletes came together at Peak Club on Sunday for StrongHER Showdown 2026, Brunei’s first and only all-women functional fitness competition.
Now in its second edition, the competition featured 60 athletes going head-to-head in high-energy, team-based workouts designed to test strength, endurance and teamwork.
StrongHER Showdown was organised to celebrate the third anniversary of Ladies Strength & Sweat (LSS).
For returning participant Ira Ali of Team Kopi B4 Kettlebells, StrongHER Showdown holds a special place in her fitness journey. She first took part in the competition last year, making it her first-ever fitness competition.
“Last year, StrongHER was the first fitness competition I ever joined. It was nerve-wracking, but I never regretted it one bit. The feeling of training together and finishing together was indescribable,” she said.
“I’m making a comeback this year to see how much I’ve improved since then. I know that I have trained tirelessly and made a better version of myself.
“I also want to show my support for LSS, the same way they have supported me throughout my journey. Of course, I’m just as excited to see the other ladies showcasing their strengths!” For first-time participant Izzy Isa of Team Donut Panic, joining LSS began after she had a baby and was looking for a supportive and inclusive space to exercise.
“Working out can be very intimidating, especially for those who are just starting out or getting back into fitness again. Having a female-only space gives women an avenue to build confidence, feel comfortable and less self-conscious, so they can simply give it a go,” she said.
“What I love most about the coaches is how welcoming and accommodating they are. I’ve never felt embarrassed or discouraged by them at all. In fact, they always uplift you and believe in you more than you believe in yourself.
“They make you feel like you’re capable of more than you think, without ever making you feel small.”
Izzy said the women-only format was also a key motivation for her to take part in the competition. “I just knew I would be surrounded by a lot of strong women, and I wanted to be a part of that. The vibes just hit differently when you’re surrounded by other strong women. There’s something about that energy that makes you want to push yourself harder.”
The top three teams at StrongHER Showdown 2026 were Quadz Darlings in first place, Sore Sisters in second, and Barbella Besties in third. During the closing ceremony, winning teams received prizes while participants received goodie bags.
