His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, consented to attend the Majlis Kesyukuran at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Kiarong on Tuesday evening, in conjunction with His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration. Accompanying His Majesty were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.
Upon arrival, His Majesty was greeted by Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar; Coordinating Minister for Social Policies and Manpower and Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration; Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan; Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof; State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned; as well as members of the National Committee for His Majesty’s 80th Birthday Celebration.

The ceremony commenced with mass Maghrib prayers, followed by the Sunnat Hajat prayer, led by Chief Syar’ie Judge Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar.
Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Awang Haji Othman recited the Doa Kesyukuran.
In addition to the main gathering at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, similar religious observances were also held simultaneously at designated mosques throughout the country.

In the Brunei-Muara District, the designated mosques included Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque; Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Mentiri; Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Kampong Jerudong; Mohamed Bolkiah Mosque, Kampong Serusop; Sultan Sharif Ali Mosque, Mukim Sengkurong; Al-Muhtadee Billah Mosque, Kampong Sungai Kebun; Setia Ali Mosque, Pekan Muara; and Lambak Kanan National Housing Mosque.
Meanwhile, Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque, Pekan Tutong was designated as the focal mosque in the Tutong District, with Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha as the guest of honour.
Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque, Pekan Bangar served as the focal mosque in the Temburong District, with Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid as the guest of honour.
In the Belait District, the ceremonies were held at Mohammad Jamalul Alam Mosque, Kuala Belait; Kampong Pandan National Housing Mosque, Kuala Belait; and Pekan Seria Mosque.
The ceremony at the Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque saw Minister of Transport and Infocommunications Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos as the guest of honour.
Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad was also present.
The evening ceremony commenced with mass Maghrib prayers, followed by Sunnat Hajat led by imam of Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque Haji Noor Azhar bin Haji Harith, as well as the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil, led by Mosque Affairs Officer Afiq Haririe bin Haji Muhammad Daud.
Head of Religious Affairs in the Belait District Mohammad Aliyani bin Ismail led the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran, with the ceremony concluding with mass Isyak prayers.
