The Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and the Ministry of Education (MoE) held a Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony at the Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital on Tuesday in conjunction with the 36th National Teacher’s Day celebration.
It began with the congregational Sunnat Hajat prayer, seeking Allah the Almighty’s continued protection, good health and strength for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, as well as continued guidance and protection in leading the country towards lasting prosperity and blessings.
The prayer was led by Mosque Officer at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque, Department of Mosque Affairs Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran bin Haji Kunchang, who also led the congregational Asar prayer. This was followed by the recitation of Ratib Al-Attas, led by Grade III Imam of Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque Haji Hamdini bin Haji Garif. The Doa Kesyukuran and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam were recited by Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Emran.
Tuesday’s ceremony brought together officers, teachers and students from schools, colleges, higher education institutions and technical institutions under the MoRA and MoE.
The Doa Kesyukuran Ceremony formed part of the religious activities held in conjunction with the 36th National Teacher’s Day celebration, jointly organised by the two ministries.
This year’s National Teacher’s Day celebration carries the theme ‘Guru Pemangkin Pendidikan Lestari dan Inovasi’ (Teachers as Catalysts for Sustainable Education and Innovation).
Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh attended the ceremony.
Deputy Minister of Education Dato Seri Paduka Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Dr Haji Mohammed Hussain bin Pehin Penyurat Awang Haji Ahmad and Permanent Secretary (Higher Education) at the MoE Dr Haji Azman bin Ahmad also attended.
Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Brunei; Ra’es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, deputy permanent secretaries, department heads and senior officials from both ministries were also in attendance at Tuesday’s ceremony.
