Group of Wives of Cabinet Ministers, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, deputy permanent secretaries and affiliated members held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony at Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang, to commemorate Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam’s birthday ceremony.
Joining the ceremony were 80 orphans aged between 13 and 18, who are students receiving assistance under the SER Scheme from Sekolah Ugama Arab Menengah Perempuan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha and Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the wife of the Minister of Religious Affairs and head of the group’s religious committee, Datin Norazimah binti Haji Ramlee.
This was followed by the recitation of doa, as well as Surah Ad-Dhuha to Surah An-Naas by Khatam participants.
The Doa Khatam Al-Quran and the Dikir Marhaban were subsequently led by Qariah Hajah Maidah binti Haji Abdul Rahman.
The ceremony also saw the recitation of Doa Selamat and Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam led by the wife of the Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious Affairs) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ustazah Hajah Noraini binti Haji Buntar, who also led the Sunat Hajat and Doa Kesyukuran in conjunction with the birthday celebration.
Following a mass Asar prayer, the presentation of certificates of appreciation and Infaq Kasih were also handed to the Khatam participants, comprising orphans and selected students receiving assistance under the SER Scheme.
Certificates of appreciation and tokens of appreciation were also presented to the teachers and supervisors in recognition of their commitment and contributions towards guiding the participants and ensuring the success of the ceremony.
These presentations were made by the wife of the Coordinating Minister for National Security, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II and group’s Chairperson I, Datin Hajah Kalshom binti Haji Suhaili; and the wife of the Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Datin Paduka Dr Hajah Dayang Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil.
The ceremony served as an annual activity organised by the group as an expression of affection and gratitude to Allah the Almighty in conjunction with the birthday celebration of Her Majesty.
The group expressed hope that the participants would receive blessings through their recitation of Al-Quran, while strengthening the bonds of friendship and relationships among the group members.
