‘Youth important in driving development’

Youth are a valuable national asset who play an important role in driving development, particularly in the economic, industrial and commercial sectors.

This was highlighted during a DawnTalk ‘Outstanding Youth: Knowledgeable, Good Character, Courteous and Devout’, delivered by Special Grade Mosque Affairs Officer and Head of the Mosque Enrichment Division at the Department of Mosque Affairs, Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Fansuri Sharimi @ Haji Mansur bin Mohamad Ali.

The talk was held at Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque as part of the ‘Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat’ programme yesterday morning.

The speaker described youth as diamonds, representing a valuable asset to the nation. He said they served as an important source of human resources in driving development, while ensuring the continuity of the workforce and playing a vital role in nurturing future generations. He emphasised the importance of preparing young people with the four values known as 4B: knowledge, good character, courtesy and devotion to Allah the Almighty, to produce capable and responsible leaders.

“By embracing these values, youth would, Insya Allah, be able to bring about positive change and contribute to the nation’s progress and development, both now and in the future.”

The programme began with the mass Subuh prayer, followed by the recitation of wirid and the tazkirah.

The programme aims to encourage Muslims in the country to enliven mosques through congregational worship, religious learning and other religious activities. It also seeks to nurture a disciplined and responsible society that respects others, while strengthening love for mosques as houses of Allah the Almighty.

In addition, the programme promotes the spirit of Brunei as a Nation of Zikir and a Nation of Blessings through the practice of Islamic teachings in daily life, contributing to the country’s well-being and prosperity based on Islamic values.
