Former students, teachers mark Teacher’s Day

More than 50 former students and teachers at Sekolah Melayu Muhammad Alam (SMMA) commemorated the Teacher’s Day celebration in a festive gathering on October 10, 2026 at a restaurant in Sungai Liang.

The celebration aimed to recognise and honour the contributions made by teachers, both active and former, to supporting and advancing the nation’s education sector, while also further strengthening the friendship and camaraderie among the school’s former students and teachers.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the ex-teachers and ex-students of Sekolah Melayu Muhammad Alam Group Haji Abdul Aziz bin Haji Abdul Gani, who led the celebration, expressed his gratitude for the presence of many of the former students and teachers of the school. “On this meaningful occasion in celebrating the 36th Teacher’s Day, I would like to express our deepest appreciation and thanks to all former teachers who are present today.”

He highlighted that the dedication and contributions of the teachers during their service in educating the children cannot be measured in monetary terms.

“Throughout the years, despite the many challenges and changes in the education system, our former teachers have laid a strong foundation for the development of human capital in Brunei Darussalam.”

The celebration continued with a cake cutting, followed by meals served alongside games and activities. – Daniel Lim
