Some 64 participants comprising members of Belia Syababurroja’, members of the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Takmir Committee and members of Muslimah Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah participated in the ‘Kenali Negara Kitani: Menyelusuri Khazanah Islam Brunei’ (KNK: Exploring Brunei’s Islamic Heritage) programme organised by Kumpulan Syababurroja’ of the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Youth Group on Sunday.
The programme aimed to familiarise participants with the history and Islamic heritage of Brunei Darussalam through a combination of a knowledge-sharing session and an educational visit, while also fostering a deeper appreciation of Islamic history, heritage and treasures that form an integral part of the country’s history and identity.
It also served as a platform to strengthen ties and promote cooperation among youth, members of the mosque’s takmir committee and Muslimah Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah through their participation in educational and religious activities centred on history.
The programme began with a talk ‘Exploring Islamic Heritage’, delivered by Mohammad Shahmie bin Mohammad Sani, providing participants with an opportunity to broaden their knowledge and understanding of Islamic history in preparation for the subsequent visit.
Participants proceeded to the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Islamic Exhibition Hall for an educational visit that enabled them to observe and appreciate Islamic heritage more closely, connecting the knowledge gained during the talk with a direct learning experience.
Through this initiative, the organiser hopes that similar initiatives will continue to serve as a platform for learning, strengthening brotherhood and encouraging youth involvement in religious and community activities. – Daniel Lim
